Anonymous "Dog Haiku"
Today I sniffed
Many dog behinds-I celebrate
By kissing your face.
I sound the alarm!
Garbage man-come to kill us all-
Look! Look! Look! Look! Look!
How do I love thee?
The ways are numberless as
My hairs on the rug.
“Dog Haiku” brings to light what a dog does on a daily basis. The dog will sniff many other dog butts, and then when they are done, will go to its master by licking their face. To think about the dog having its face in another dogs behind, and then having that same face up to yours seems really disgusting. The dog barks at the garbage man because the garbage man to the dog is bad. The dog also leaves its hair on the floor. The dog does love its owner though. This poem is another strange way to look at a situation that may happen daily, and myself as a dog owner, never really thought about this. Now I am wondering what else my dog happens to get into, and then comes to lick my face. I can relate to this poem, just as I can the rest of the poems, and that is primarily why I am adding it to the collection thus far.
